I love books, too much. I could never read all the books I have but keep buying more if they sound good...

A Must Read for Anyone and Everyone!

No God but One: Allah or Jesus?: A Former Muslim Investigates the Evidence for Islam and Christianity - Nabeel Qureshi

This is a powerful book. A must read for any Muslim, Christian or Athiest just to understand the differing perspectives. Unbelievable work by the author! Thank you Nabeel for this fantastic book!

Recruits: Great Read!

Recruits - Thomas Locke

This was a fantastic book. Referred to as Young Adult this is also an amazing and gripping read for adults. Great writing, awesome plot; I cannot wait for the second in the series! Locke is a great writer!

Science-Fiction at its best.

The Word Endangered (The Face of the Deep, Book 3) - Steve Rzasa

This was a fantastic read. I love classic science-fiction adventure (opera?) novels done well and this is a perfect example. Steve Rzasa's novels keep getting better and this is the best one yet in the series. I did not read Broken Sight which takes place prior to this story but I look forward to doing so.

Overall, the writing is excellent an awesome story and indepth plot-line that expands the created universe. I really hope this is not the end of this series. Such a unique concept for a series.

A must read!

The Aeronaut's Windlass: The Cinder Spires, Book 1 - Jim Butcher, -Penguin Audio-, Euan Morton

This is truly an excellent book. Awesome story, clean story-telling, little to no swearing which was surprising but very pleasant. I listened to the audiobook and it did seem a little long but I wonder if reading it would have felt different... I will read the next one in the series when it comes out.

Double Edge - Thomas Locke

This was a great teaser to the new series by Thomas Locke.... Well written suspense thriller.

The Word Unleashed

The Word Unleashed - Steve Rzasa

A great second book in this series. Excellent story and writing. There were numerous formatting errors in my ebook edition (i.e. missing parts of sentences at the beginning of some chapters, etc.) that I found very distracting.

Overall a great Sci-Fi read. Looking forward to reading the next book soon...

Reading Habits

  1. Do you have a certain place in your home for reading? Not necessarily although the bedroom primarily.
  2. Bookmark or random piece of paper? Bookmark preferably but I'll use whatever is at hand.
  3. Can you  just stop reading or do you have to stop read after a chapter / certain number of pages? I'm very intentional about my reading and aim for a certain number of pages / day. I prefer to stop at a chapter break or another break...
  4. Do you eat or drink while reading? Often
  5. Multitasking: music or TV while reading? No. I am easily distracted.
  6. One book at a time or several at once? I am always reading at least two, usually more books at once.
  7. Reading at home or everywhere? I read everywhere I can get a solid few minutes.
  8. Reading out loud or silently in your head? Silently.
  9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages? Very, very rarely.
  10. Barking the spine or keeping it like new?  Ugghh. Please don't break the spine!!!
  11. Do you write in your books? Very rarely.

January 1, 2017 - another agonizingly slow day on Booklikes...

Hidden Christmas

Hidden Christmas: The Surprising Truth Behind the Birth of Christ - Timothy Keller Wow... a simple yet very powerful book on the difference Christ makes in our lives. This is an absolute must read. This is short (only 150 pages) but worth spending time and pouring over. I will without a doubt be reading this next December too and trying to spend more time on it.

Orphan X

Orphan X: A Novel (Evan Smoak) - Gregg Hurwitz

I received this book through a Goodreads giveaway to give an honest review. I am pleasantly surprised with the beginning... Very suspenseful and wonderfully written. Looking forward to continuing...

I have finished the book and it is truly a great spy thriller. The writing is excellent and polished and the plot does not languish. It style reminds me of the Bourne movies (although I have not read the books) but by no means is this taken from that. This is new and inventive with excellent plot twists.

My only complaints are my own... there is lots of swearing as the story moves on which I don't feel is necessary. There are two sex scenes which I always feel is not needed in a good book. I have taken a 'star' off for these.

A must read (apparently a movie is in the works) before the movie comes out! I will be reading more by this author.

I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist - David Limbaugh, Frank Turek, Norman L. Geisler

This was really a phenomenal book. The logic of the authors' arguments is wonderfully clear. A superb book!

I listened to this as an audiobook but am so amazed with the book that I will be definitely buying a copy of the text in order to go through it in greater detail.

Highly, highly recommended.

$7.99 for less than 100 pages for each installment?

Star Trek The Next Generation: Slings and Arrows, Book 1: A Sea of Troubles - J. Steven York, Christina F. York

I got this for $1.99 on sale hoping to buy the others as well after reading it. The rest of the series has gone back to normal price at $7.99 per short story! At under 100 pages each, there is no way to justify the price... Very disappointing.

The story was interesting and well worth $1.99 but I will not continue reading the other installments and $7.99. There is no way to justify this price.

Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus: A Devout Muslim Encounters Christianity - Nabeel Qureshi

Truly amazing!

Outlaw (Rebel Stars Book 1) - Edward W. Robertson

I pushed myself to keep going several times but have finally given up. At times it was very well written and interesting but eventually I could not get by the bad descriptions that periodically cropped up:

"...motors whirred and clunked."

"...an orchestra of clicks, whirrs and beeps..."

" A high-pitched boop..." Is 'boop' even a word?

Is there no better description for engines than 'whirrs"? This is used regularly and I can't get by it...
